IH Announces Rate Change Effective July 1, 2024
When does the change take place? | Keeping your premium lower | compare your plans
Effective July 1, 2012, Inclusive Health rates will change. The premiums will increase an average of 3% on the State and Option and an average of 13% on the Federal Option. Inclusive Health premiums are by law based on the average rates in the North Carolina Individual Health Insurance Market. This represents the first time in over two years that our overall premium rate average has increased.
When will the rate change affect each Inclusive Health member?
- The rate change goes into effect on July 1st
- As a member of Inclusive Health, you are aware that your monthly premium is guaranteed for a year from the effective date of the policy.
- Only members that are renewing their policies on July 1st and any new members will be affected immediately by the rates change
- All other members will see their rate change at the renewal of their policy. For example:
- If you became a member of Inclusive Health on July 1, 2011, your rate change will be effective on July 1, 2024
- If you became a member on January 1, 2012, your rate change will be effective January 1, 2013.
- All Inclusive Health members will be notified of the rate change at least 45 days prior to the effective date

Things that you might consider to keep your premium lower:
- Switch to a higher deductible plan to avoid a significant increase in the premium or possibly even lower the monthly premium
- If you switch to a higher deductible plan, the claims that you have incurred against your deductible thus far in 2012 will be transferred over. A new deductible year does not begin again until January of each year.
- Apply for the IH Assist program - if you are currently on the IH - State Option plan, you may be eligible for a discount on your monthly premium if you qualify based on your household size and income.
Make sure that you compare your plans:
- You can do a quick rate quote comparison to look at all of your options.
