PCIP Notification

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THIS INFORMATION THAT EXPLAINS SOME IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR HEALTH COVERAGE

May 28, 2024

Dear Member,

We are writing to inform you as a Policyholder of the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) also known as Inclusive Health - Federal Option about a change in administration of your coverage. Inclusive Health has administered the PCIP in North Carolina under an agreement with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Beginning July 1, 2013, Inclusive Health will no longer administer the North Carolina PCIP. This means that for you to continue your health insurance under the federal PCIP program after June 30, 2024 that you must enroll in a new federal PCIP benefit plan by July 1, 2013.

How This Affects You

You will still have health coverage if you choose to enroll in the federally-run PCIP program. In June, you will receive an Enrollment Letter from the National Finance Center, which is the enrollment administrator for the federally-run PCIP. The Enrollment Letter will include information about the federally-run PCIP plan, how much it costs, and how to activate your coverage. You will not need to complete a new application to qualify for the federally-run PCIP. To activate your new coverage on July 1, and receive your PCIP health plan ID card by that date, you must pay your first month's premium by the Enrollment Letter's deadline of 30 days from the date of that letter. If you choose to do that, you will be a member of the federally-run PCIP program. You'll be enrolled in the new plan and have a new benefits administrator.

Questions

For any immediate questions regarding the Federal PCIP Program, please go to http://www.pcip.gov or call (866)717-5826.

Next Steps

An Enrollment Letter will be mailed out on or around June 10th from the National Finance Center. It will contain the specific details of the new benefit plan, cost sharing and monthly premium amounts and how to access covered benefits. It's very important that you act on the instructions given in this letter including payment of the new premium amount specified in the Enrollment Letter by 30 days from the date of that letter to ensure continuity of your coverage after 11:59 pm on June 30, 2013.

After you pay your premium, you will receive your enrollment packet from the PCIP benefits administrator, including your new PCIP ID card and details about your new benefits plan. You don't need to take any action right now. Just watch out for the Enrollment Letter in the mail, which will tell you exactly what you need to do to avoid losing your PCIP health coverage.

We at Inclusive Health have appreciated the opportunity to participate in extending health coverage to you and more than 6,000 other citizens in North Carolina since July 2010 through the federal PCIP program. We regret that circumstances outside of our control have led to this change in administration of your coverage at this time. We look forward to being of whatever service we can be in answering any questions or concerns you may have about your existing coverage. Please refer to the Inclusive Health website at www.inclusivehealth.org or call 866-665-2117 for more information about your existing coverage.

Sincerely,

Michael Keough, Executive Director Inclusive Health
